This is a Typography image I created in photoshop using one of my background examples

I used one of my background examples in photoshop, and added some type to create this image. I added a string of “Awareness” which i repeated and faded to the background. I then added a large “A” which has been slightly truncated. I then added the “wareness” as a smaller font, and faded both so that you could still see the strings of “awareness” through it.

This is my second example of typography, I covered the image with the word “waste” which I repeated, and changed its position. I then put a large one in the middle and the “w” is cut off a bit. This is similar to the first one, and I might create another one that is a bit different.

This is a cover of Rolling Stone magazine

This magazine is a music magazine with a main focus on rock music. I think it is aimed more at older music lovers, hence it’s name which come from the band The Rolling Stones. Also it has been around for quite a while. 

The layout on this cover is quite good, as it is quite spaced out, but still maintaining some kind of grouping, without being cluttered. They have used the same font for most of the cover, apart from the title, which has it’s own font that makes it stand out and gives it individuality from the rest of the cover.

The main thing that draws your eye on this cover is the main image, as they are quite well known faces, but also they both stand out as there is a lot of contrast in age between them. It’s obviously a well known magazine, as the main image overlaps the title, which you couldn’t have on a new magazine as people wouldn’t be able to see what the magazine is called and recognise it easily.

The colour scheme is the same throughout and seems to be based on white, red and black. This gives it a sense of simplicity, but also makes it easier to read as there aren’t a lot of bright, contrasting colours.

WIth this image, I desaturated the image and used the colour halftone efect to give it the appearnace of being a picture in a magazine. This picture doesn’t really work well as there isn’t really a meaning behind it. However it could work as a basic background.

This image is the edited version, it represents the carbon footprint

With this edit, I desaturated the image, and sharpened it. This made everything look dead and fragile. Then I added a vector graphic of a footprint off a google image searc. I then inverted the colours and made it green.

This represents how our carbon footprint is killing the earth and how we need to make our environmental footprint more green.

I took this picture to use the water as it has quite a good effect. Also, the sky in the background is quite grey and dark.

With this photo, I cropped out the wall and most of the drain pipe. Then I desaturated the entire image and selected the rain drops. I then made the larger rain drops red and blended the smaller drops in with the sky.

This image represents the effects of global warming on the environment, and the rain represents extreme acid rain.

I like this picture as the dirt gives the picture quite a grungy look, and the colours work quite well as there is some contrast between light and dark, and the colours are all quite 'dirty' colours.

A photoshop edit where I have made the leaf look like it is plastic

With this image, I desaturated the entire image and using a magnetic lasoo tool I selected the leaf and copied it into a new layer. I used the variations tool in photoshop to give the leaf a blue colour, then used a ‘plastic wrap’ filter to make the leaf look like it is made of plastic. i then used the smart sharpen tool to exaggerate the detail in the leaf and the round around it.

I did this as it makes the leaf look fake, and it represents how in contemporary society we rely too heavily on aesthetic, material goods rather than natural things.

1. Opened the psd file of all the parts in Photoshop

2. Copied the melon into a new image

3. Chose pieces I wanted to use and copied them into the Photoshop image

4. Cut them out using the magic wand tool and arranged them

5. Created Melon Head
